In response to a number of disasters in Kansas, the Kansas Search & Rescue Working Group (KSARWG) was established to assist in coordinating the response to incidents requiring search & rescue resources.  The initial formation of this group focused on structural collapse response but the role has expanded to include multiple areas of search & rescue response.  In 2008, the KSARWG was chartered under the Deployable Assets Committee of the Governor’s Commission on Emergency Planning & Response. (CEPR)

The KSARWG continues to work with numerous agencies around the state, including the Fire Marshal’s Office, KDEM, the Kansas National Guard, the Homeland Security Regional Councils, and many Participating Agencies to enhance the planning and overall capability to respond to a disaster or emergency requiring specialized search & rescue assets.  If you have questions about any document found in this area, don’t hesitate to contact a member of the KSARWG.  The current membership list can be found under the tab, Kansas Search & Rescue Working Group Charter.
